Laolu is a Swiss-Nigerian DJ, producer, and the creative force behind Siembra, his own label focused on club music that blends his European electronic roots with the rhythms of West Africa.

Born to a Nigerian father and Swiss mother who met in a Berlin record store, Laolu spent his early years in Nigeria where his parents ran “The Gallery,” a jazz and soul club that shaped his first musical experiences. Later, he studied saxophone and music theory in France. After discovering Detroit techno pioneers Derrick May and Carl Craig at 18, he sold his saxophone to buy a drum machine and fully committed to electronic music production.

He gained international attention with his remix of Dele Sosimi’s Too Much Information on Innervisions, a track that became a standout of the year and a favourite of Dixon and Âme. Since then, Laolu has built a reputation as a meticulous and emotive producer, releasing music on respected labels such as Innervisions, Crosstown Rebels, Defected, Compost Records, Anjunadeep, Keinemusik, FFRR, and more.

Alongside longtime collaborator Kadebostan, and through work like producing “Sene Kela” for Mr Raoul K, Laolu’s productions have earned support from tastemakers including Dixon and Mano Le Tough.

As a DJ, Laolu is known for sets that mix percussive energy with soulful depth and rhythmic precision. His performances are rooted in storytelling, often bridging past and present influences into a cohesive musical narrative. He has played some of the world’s top venues and festivals, guiding dancefloors through immersive, transformative journeys.

Through Siembra, Laolu continues to push forward-thinking sounds and collaborations that celebrate cultural connection, artistic honesty, and the shared language of the dancefloor.
